Adding Cash Assistance
to Job Training
Recover Fund evaluated the long-term implications of incorporating conditional cash transfers into an evidence-based workforce training program at a national level. The study assessed the impact of including cash assistance in the comprehensive support package provided to individuals affected by the justice system. It found that offering cash assistance, in addition to training, had a significant positive effect on short-term engagement with services and long-term employment retention as compared to a training-only condition. These findings have important implications for both national and regional workforce development policies.
